Finding Evidence

Finding evidence was a helpful helps us make sure we back up what we put out there. We need proof to reassure readers that the information is credible. For example, we talked about Wikipedia in class, and how everyone can write information so its probably not the most credible site. Then it was brought to our attention that a lot of there people provide proof and there is a team behind them making sure this information shared is actually true. Knowing that bit of information instantly changed some minds because it put people at ease. People don't feel like they are being cheated because they are provided with proof and know that there are plenty of people making sure that this is right. Evidence is also present in newspapers and magazines. It something the reader needs too feel like they have uncovered the truth in a sense. They don't like feeling lied to.

Final Email

This is my Final draft after seeing the notes from class. I noticed everyone wanted to keep it short and sweet as well. This time I went in and added a little bit more personal information while still trying to keep it professional. Hopefully I was taking from the notes correctly:

Dear Angus Mclane,
My name is Taylor Odum. I am a Brooks Institute film student. I would like to conduct an interview on the way writing impacts the way you work as a film director at Pixar. If you would give me a chance to interview you that would be an opportunity I would be extremely grateful for! My contact info is (702)***-**** and my email is _____@yahoo.com. If you are interested feel free to contact me any of those ways.
                        Best Regards
                            -Taylor O.

First email draft

This was my first draft of my email:
I went with a more short and sweet approach just because I took into account these people have jobs to do and this would get the point across with out being to pushy.

To whom it may concern;

Understanding Rhetoric

After reading the Murder (Rhetorically Speaking) and Understanding Rhetoric I have gotten a clearer understanding of what Rhetoric really is! Not going to lie but I actually really dig it! It's basically about tailoring your writings to the situation. For example my writing is different if I am writing a Facebook post and one of these blogs then if I was writing an essay for a scholarship.
Even when we text we are keeping things extremely casual. we shorten words and use emojis and numbers in place of words because it's quick and gets the point across. Imagine texting someone:
“Good afternoon Susan,
Please retrieve my special ordered Brie and Orange Marmalade From the Market at approximately four o'clock in this evening.
Best regards,
Prince Charles”
Yea, I know. sounds pretty ridiculous in my opinion. that's why we text like:
“Sue,
cheese
Jam
4pm, Thx!”
It simple and gets to the point.
It's the same with writing an essay. I would talk in text because I'm trying to impress someone it's just that simple.
While reading I was able to make some really good connections. The discussions in class also added help. I get that there is supposed to be a balance between the casual writing and the professional writing. You can still write an amazing essay while adding that touch of your personality. It's just in the matter of making it tasteful. It can be difficult for someone like me because I love writing like I'm speaking to someone, and sometimes that isn't always appropriate. Reading these passages have opened my eyes a little. Its going to make me more aware of how I'm writing and the tone I'm writing in. It's definitely going to make me a little more cautious. That cautiousness will be beneficial in the long run because I wont be just throwing a paper together and I wont add things that have nothing to do with the piece just to get it done.
(we have all been there)
My approach from now on will be, write freely in the beginning. Let ideas flow and come up with some interesting things that step out of the box. Then I will go in and clean up the seams. Next thing I know i'll have a well tailored paper that's actually successful.

>If you type Rhetoric Art in your search engine you find this pretty cool painting by Rembrandt! I hope it pleases your eyes as much as it pleases mine.

I think this is an artist statment

This is my artist statement. Its not very good and it needs a lot of work but here is what I have:

There are 7 billion different worlds coexisting. Each day my world has collided with another. The collision could be so small it might be like the passing of a butterfly. Small, brief, yet important, and beautiful. I get to see a new vision of life when I open my eyes and another when I close them. I take all my familiar senses and put them into a piece that I can send off into other worlds in an envelope and leave it up to the recipient to rip it up or to keep it safe forever. In this current envelope ,here I am. My mind is in a battle of calming the chaos of every tornado that hits a nerve. As I get better at controlling the monster in my head I am able to tap into the unified field. Its a nirvana of sorts. Emotions become images and frame by frame I am able to express everything with a certain fluidity. Ideas flow out of my mind like Niagara Falls, I just hope its just a beautiful. I hope that every sense that passes from my fingertips and that is put into my work is something you can taste without taking a bite. Something you can feel without grasping it. My work is a collection. Different pieces of my soul. My work is me. Here I am. Here is a piece of my world.

My name is Taylor. You may know me as T.Frank in class, but if you’re comfortable feel free to call me T Swizzle or T Sweezy. The choice is up to you! I am currently a film student in my 3rd semester. I genuinely love Brooks and am so glad to be here. It really has changed my life for the better. I’m just going to give you a heads up now I can be pretty annoying so I am sorry in advance to my fellow classmates. I love people and I am pretty sure I will love you so say "Hi!" and lets be best friends.
Where to go from here? Well, I like making people laugh even though I’m not that funny. Pity laughs are the way to my heart! My favorite activities include but are not limited to dancing in my room, driving badly around town, secretly listening to country songs, and cleaning the lint trap out of the dryer. I love puppies, I have to wiener dogs back home. When they wear there scarfs, they look gang affiliated but they are really not I promise you. They will have your back though and what’s better then cuddling with a furry home DOG! (See what I did there)
Anyway I’m sure you’ll find more out about me as time goes on, as will I. I would like to thank you all for reading this semi interesting post that you’ll most likely forget about in an hour! Shout out to you! Here is to a new journey of English 201. Let’s make it the best we can. I’ll see you in class!
T.Frank out!
